Relays are among the most important components used in automation. Such things as failure-free device connection, manufacturing processes, and (in the case of many installations e.g. lifts) human safety depend on their reliability. There are many well-known manufacturers of electromagnetic relays on the market, and TE Connectivity is definitely one of them. It is a global manufacturer of industrial components, with a wide portfolio of products, including connectors, passive and mechanical elements, cable accessories, sensors, antennas and tools. It also manufactures the RT2 relays, which is one of the most popular series of electromagnetic relays in the world.
The RT2 series comprises miniature relays with PCB leads with 5mm pitch. It is a truly diverse product group, as it includes monostable and bistable relays (1 or 2 coils), with DC coils (from 5V to 110V) or AC coils (from 24V to the standard 230V). Furthermore, the TME catalogue offers these relays in two versions of contact configuration, DPDT (two changeover contacts) or DPST-NO (two make contacts, normally open circuit).
Both configurations have a maximum contact current of 8A and can be used in circuits with voltage up to 300V DC and 400V AC (depending on the model). The relays feature 5kV dielectric isolation (between the coil and the contacts), which translates into their high resistance to pulses occurring in machines with an inductive load, e.g motors. Thanks to all those characteristics, the RT2 elements can be used in many control systems (not only in industry, more info).
