The VDV II is a series of advanced copper cable testers. Their manufacturer is the British company Trend Networks. The testers check the correct operation of cables in domestic, commercial, or industrial networks, including telephone cabling, data networks, and video signal lines.

The TNET-R158000 model enables basic testing of copper cabling. A wide range of connectors allows you to test Coax (coaxial), 6-pin (RJ-11/12) and 8-pin (RJ-45) cables. The wiremap function can detect faults such as miswires, split pairs, shorts, and opens. The tester supports all common LAN cables e.g., 5, Cat. 5e, Cat. 6, Cat. 6A, Cat 7, and STP. The VDV II Plus TNET-R158002 has all the functions of its predecessor and is additionally equipped with a larger, 2.9-inch backlit display. In addition to creating a wiremap, it allows you to measure cable length and the distance to the short circuit.

VDV II Pro TNET-R158003 is the flagship product of the series. It uses TDR (time-domain reflectometer) technology to precisely measure the distance to open or short circuit faults. In addition, the PRO model determines media service (ISDN, PBX, or PoE) and displays network rate and duplex information. All testers of this series are equipped with overvoltage protection to prevent damage to devices resulting from too high voltage in the network. The last model, which admittedly does not belong to the VDV II series, but is a de facto development of it, is the PoE Pro Meter - TNET-R158004. The tester is dedicated to PoE networks (more info).
